Nils Loof studied at the University of Television and Film. As cameraman and later as director, he created short films, corporate videos, documentaries and commercials. His short films have won numerous awards, including the German Film Award and the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Kurzfilm Award.
Nils Loof has taught at the University of Hildesheim, the West University of Timisoara (Romania), and since 2009 he is teaching at the University of Hannover, Faculty III Media, Information and Design. Previously a board member of the Film- und Medienbüro Niedersachsen, he is currently a member of the German Film Academy, and part of the jury of Cast and Cut, a short film scholarship.
